Teacher Overview

Mostafijur Rahman is a Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Engineering under the Faculty of Agriculture at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Biological and Ecological Engineering, majoring in Water Resources Engineering, at Oregon State University, USA. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering, with a major in Irrigation and Water Management, and Master of Science in Irrigation and Water Management from Sylhet Agricultural University. He secured first position in his department in both degree programs. His academic achievements include the National Science and Technology Fellowship awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh, a nomination for the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal, and several university scholarships and research awards. Mr. Rahman has professional experience in academia, research, environmental engineering, and the private sector. He has worked with government and non-government research organizations and industry partners to promote smart, sustainable, and climate-resilient agriculture. His research has addressed groundwater availability and variability, remote sensing and GIS applications, low-cost solar irrigation, IoT-based smart irrigation systems, agricultural structures, soil and water management, and the environmental impacts of industrial and agricultural activities. His research interests include water resources engineering and management, groundwater hydrology, remote sensing and GIS, artificial intelligence and IoT applications in agriculture, agrometeorology, sediment transport, soil-water-plant relationships, environmental impact assessment, renewable energy, sustainable irrigation, and environmental economics. He has published several research articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has received research funding from institutions in Bangladesh and the United States.
